This cheese comes from the Mons cheese group, well renowned connoisseurs and producers of fine and specitality cheeses. The Mons family has been specilising and selling cheese since the 60’s. They have grown year after year wining awards for their success including the ‘Meiuller Ovrier de France’ award in 2000, and in 2002 elected ‘cheese makers of the year.’ Today they export their cheeses all over the world to 19 different countries.
Saint Marcellin is a soft creamy cheese with a slight mushroom aroma. The cheese is often so young and tender that it comes packaged in a terracotta pot. It is best paired with a Cotes du Rhone village like Gigondas and similar Spanish reds. Traditionally it is paired with a Beaujolais.
* All cheeses must be ordered by Monday for the next Monday as they come fresh from Mons in France.
